“One thing that I've learned about organization and administration of sports medicine care in a clinic setting during my Ball State Internship with Dr. McDougle, is that no matter how much you want to help a patient, they have to want to get well in order to be effective in thier treatments! If the patient is not interested in putting their full effort into the treatment plan and does not show up for appointments, then your effort is not going to be as effective.”

“During my Ball State Athletic Training internship with Dr. McDougle, a female athlete came in complaining of knee pain. With her legs relaxed in the seated position Dr. McDougle described the athlete's lateral gatsrocnemius as rock-hard. Before she even took her shoes off, he predicted that she had flat feet. He understood the kinetic chain and its effects leading to conditions such as genu valgum in the athlete's knees which caused the lateral leg muscles to be tight. Dr. McDougle believes that catching these improper body mechanics early is the key to avoiding surgery in the future. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it!”
